Nova Atlium - 30/SEP/2021

While Atlia continues to maintain a limited foreign policy; In the last month, it has signed two mutual recognition treaties with nations with historical ties.

Confederation of the Northern Coast

On 07 / SEP / 2021, Atlia signed a Mutual Recognition Treaty with the Confederation of the Northern Coast, the successor state of the Second Maritime Republic of The Damariscotta. The Damariscotta would have merged with other nations to form the Confederation about two months ago, on 13 / JUL / 2021, thus changing its name back to "Misberia". Due to this, the mutual recognition treaty signed on 03/17/2021 was annulled and required an official continuation.

Kingdom of Zuhan-Roweland

Just over two weeks later, Atlia would sign another mutual recognition treaty, now with the Kingdom of Zuhan-Roweland, the successor state to the Second Zuhan Empire. Atlia and Zuhan have had a diplomatic relationship dating back to 2019, where both nations, then members of the United Sovereignties, signed a mutual recognition treaty for the first time. The new treaty formalized an agreement agreed between both nations on a possible conflict of territorial claims.

Controversy for Ball's Pyramid

Zuhan-Roweland returned to the micronational community at the hands of his head of state, King Connor I of Zuhan-Roweland, on 12 / SEP / 2021, making a statement on the twitter account that he belonged to the Zuhanese Empire.

Upon his return, he questioned his Atlian counterpart, the Prince-Regent Luis Marcel, about the current situation of Ball's Pyramid, because this was a territory that he divided with Misberia back in 2019 and was consolidated as a single territory under the fleeting Crowned Confederation of Misberia-Zuhan. After various restructuring and treaties, Atlia was left as the sole legal heir to said territory (if we discount that of the macronation of the Commonwealth of Australia).

Zuhan-Roweland gave the Atlia government the freedom to decide the future of the territory, who decided to keep the territory as part of the Kingdom of Atlia. At the request of King Connor I, the Prince-Regent Luis Marcel granted him the title of "Duke of Ball's Pyramid, Protector of the Ceremonial Claim", being reflected in an unpublished royal edict, dated 16 / SEP / 2021, now published below (in Spanish).

In turn, a week later, Connor I made official the appointment of the Prince-Regent to the title of "Duke of Rowe Island" in Zuhan-Roweland.

With the signatures of these treaties, the growing participation of Atlia in the micronational community beyond the already known partners, and the candidacy of the Kingdom of Atlia for the presidency of the CMLOE, the slow but constant change can be perceived as the end of the isolationist policy and reduced diplomacy that has been in place for more than enough time.
