We recognize the mistakes and policy changes that former Prime Minister Andrew Musgrave took and with it, the harm caused to individuals both New Virginian, Austenasian, and abroad. In particular his use of public office to target and defame members of the community he disliked or had personal grudges with. - Excerpt from the official declaration of the Austenasian government to New Virginia.

Following the failed coup d'état by Andrew Musgrave, Prime Minister of Austenasia until his exile from Austenasia on 14/JUN/2025, Austenasia has been busy organizing its international presence following the internal crisis unleashed by Musgrave, as well as the perspective it gave to diplomatic partners and leaders close to the Austenasian Empire. The most recent event is an official statement from the Austenasia government apologizing for actions, statements, and accusations against New Virginia and its government; which has been positively received by said government.

BACKGROUND

CTAVA obtained an exclusive interview with Mr. Otto Green, current Chief Ambassador in Austenasia, who was able to provide us with further insight into the actions of the former Austenasian Prime Minister. Green comments that while he did not witness most of Musgrave's term, he used his position as Prime Minister to attempt to isolate and expel the New Virginian members and their allies from the Grand Unified Micronational and MicroWiki. The latter was only briefly successful.

His constant "need" to be involved in every aspect of Austenasia's affairs while not Chief Ambassador led to a collapse of ties with many nations including Adammia, a long term ally. His personal needs and issues led to a isolated Austenasia, which has led to an Austenasia working hard to mend ties to this day. Green stated.

COUP ATTEMPT IN AUSTENASIA 2025

The beginning of this rapprochement arose after the events that began on 2/JUN/2025, when the Austenasian Emperor Aggelos I called a general election following his growing dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Andrew Musgrave, a dissatisfaction shared by several representatives; noting that Musgrave's administration and its clear difference in vision and ideas with the Emperor "resulted in a stagnation in development and progress" for Austenasia.

Musgrave cited a law declaring the Emperor's action "null and void." After several exchanges between members of the government, order quickly broke down in the chambers of the House of Representatives and the Austenasian Senate, with Musgrave going so far as to refer to Aggelos as an "illegitimate monarch" and supporting his abdication in favor of Prince Shiro, Crown Prince of Austenasia (who had given him special permission to be in Senate chambers, as a Prime Minister is prohibited by law from serving as a Senator during his term). With his withdrawal from the Senate chamber, stability returned without the Prime Minister present. Meanwhile, Musgrave continued to call the Emperor a "tyrant" and derecognize him as the legitimate monarch of Austenasia in the House of Representatives. Speaker of the House Addison O'Halloran restored order, after which the Prime Minister apologized for "calling the Emperor a tyrant."

However, the following day (03/JUN/2025) Musgrave doubled down on his anti-Emperor comments, threatening to use his ownership of both the government website and the Austenasian Times's one to depose Emperor Aggelos I and install Prince Shiro as Austenasian Emperor, issuing an ultimatum. Two territories declared their independence, while another was occupied by Austenasian-allied Palasian forces under order of Lord Gordon, Deputy Prime Minister of Austenasia and leader of Palasia. With Musgrave refusing to step down, a vote of no confidence was brought against him and after it passed, he was removed from Austenasian government spaces, de facto making Lord Gordon Austenasian Prime Minister.

Andrew Musgrave, while still not dismissed from the government of Austenasia, declared himself "Lord Protector," and after Prince Shiro refused to go against Aggelos, declared the throne of the "Commonwealth of Austenasia" vacant. The remaining territories declared their loyalty to the legitimate Emperor of Austenasia, Aggelos I.

TALKS WITH NEW VIRGINIA

Since Musgrave's exile, the Austenasian government has been approaching to nations affected by the former Prime Minister's administration, primarily led by Deputy Prime Minister and Austenasian Chief Ambassador Otto Green.

One of the nations with which Green's mediation has been instrumental was the Union of New Virginia.

It has been difficult at times, mainly from my lack of knowledge of Musgrave's actions before I returned. However it was a blessing, it allowed myself and others to approach the situation with calm and clarity as common ground was found with patience and time provided by all delegates. Otto Green comments.

The result of these talks was a historic, official apology from the Austenasia government.

OFFICIAL DECLARATION OF THE GOVERNMENT OF AUSTENASIA AND NEW VIRGINIAN LETTER TO THE EMPIRE OF AUSTENASIA

Yesterday, 19/JUL/2025 the government of Austenasia published a surprising official statement, in which it apologized to the Union of New Virginia following the actions committed by them under former Prime Minister Andrew Musgrave and hoping to create new ties of cooperation and mutual appreciation.

As we consider moving forward in our cooperation, we hope we can all work to build common bonds and this opportunity to come together with respect, care, honesty, and a new appreciation for each other. - Excerpt from the official declaration of the Austenasian government to New Virginia.

The statement named Mother Hewitt and Her Holiness Shorelinian Master Scarlet Begonia, as well as other members of the New Virginia government targeted by Musgrave; and appealed to their Austenasian past, expressing "deep regret for the way they were treated and our mistakes in addressing these issues in the past." Austenasian hopes that in the future these actions can "begin the healing process and address the mistakes of the past."

The Chairwoman of the Revolutionary Committee of the Hewittist Workers' Party of the Union of New Virginia, V.I. Hewitt, in response to the Austenasian declaration, published a letter thanking Austenasia for taking responsibility for the "years of hostilities, abuses, and conspiracies which we have suffered under the administration of that cretinous fascist and notorious safeguarding offender Andrew Musgrave."; lamenting that New Virginia's respect for Austenasia was lost with him at the helm of the empire, but welcoming them back to the negotiating table with the rest of the Austenasian family of nations—nations that have seceded from the Austenasian Empire in the past and share a common culture—and seeking forgiveness for their mistakes in a responsible and mature manner.

THE FUTURE OF AUSTENIASIA-NEW VIRGINIA RELATIONS

While there is no certainty of the reestablishment of formal diplomatic relations between Austenasia and New Virginia, both sides seem eager to go down that path, with dialogue channels currently in use and the issue being discussed in both legislatures to this day.
